Home Visits

Home visits are only recommended for patients who are terminally ill or truly housebound

This is usually the elderly, for whom travel to premises would cause severe deterioration in their medical condition. In the time it takes to see someone at home, one of our doctors can see four patients in the surgery and unnecessary home visits can delay someone else getting the best treatment they need.

At the surgery GPs have access to the most up to date equipment, and consequently are able to carry out a more comprehensive examination than in a patient's home. For this reason it is in the doctor's and the patient's best interest that an effort is made to attend the surgery.

The reception staff will ask for your address, the nature of the visit and a contact telephone number and the doctor on-call will ring you to assess the urgency of your request.
