Practice Nurse
I trained at the RVI, Newcastle. I have worked at the practice since December 1991. I am the practice nurse and my main responsibilities are as follows; chronic disease management i.e. asthma, diabetes, COPD, Ischaemic Heart Disease, cervical cytology, family planning, travel vaccinations and many other treatment room activities. I currently offer late evening appointments until 7.30pn on a Monday and Tuesday evening.

Nursing Assistant
My name is Julia Gray, I have worked at the practice for over ten years. Initially I started out as a Medical Receptionist and then the opportunity arose to develop, and I trained as a phlebotomist. The role progressed and with training and support I now work as a full time Nursing Assistant. I deal with venepuncture (taking bloods), routine blood pressure checks, new patient, elderly and routine health checks, assist with minor surgery operations, spirometry and monitoring the use of the practice loan equipment.
I can also provide you with support and advice in smoking cessation.

Treatment Room Nurse
I am Rachel the Treatment Room Nurse. I joined the practice in April 2005 after working at the RVI for 5 years. I have just returned to work in March following maternity leave. I work alongside the nursing team providing travel vaccinations, smoking cessation advice, venopuncture, ear care, wound dressings and hypertension management. During the baby clinic on a Wednesday afternoon I am available to give baby and childhood vaccinations.

Phlebotomist
I joined the practice in June 2007 as a receptionist. Recently after training I was promoted to practice Phlebotomist. I now run my own clinics usually two-three times a week. I am available to take all bloods as requested by your GP.
